Swinging vocalist who can evoke the contrasting artistries of Frank Sinatra and Chet Baker. DAVID TUGHAN vocals, TIM LAPTHORN piano, JEREMY BROWN bass & MATT HOME drums.
David Tughan has enjoyed entertaining audiences worldwide from New York to London and from Kuala Lumpur to Qatar. His unique approach to the voice and innovative use of loops, vocal harmony and beat boxing integrated into live performances with his trio makes his act unique amongst his contemporaries. David's straight ahead singing style has been compared in national press to classic Jazz icons such as Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra and Mel Tormé, but his approach, while having one foot firmly in the traditions of the classic Jazz singer, he is constantly finding ways of exploring the classic songs and making them fresh, innovative and fun. From large venues and orchestras such as Dublin's RTE National Concert hall to the intimacy David’s quartet at the world famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz club in London David playfully connects with his audiences and delighting them with a spontaneous and innovative approach to Classic Jazz standards that always surprises and delights the listener.
David trained as an actor with world class Theatre Professors such as Patsy Rosenberg, Jeneatte Nelson for voice, Kenneth Rea (The Outstanding Actor), Vasilli Sckorich (Gitis Russia), Wyn Jones, Annie Castledine (Complicité), at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has performed in everything from Shakespeare plays to Actor / Musician musical comedies. David is continuing his vocal studies in Musical Theatre with world reound Royal Academy of Music Professor of Singing Ross Campbell author of “Singing”
