Talinka defies boundaries between styles and genres. It is where folk, early music, jazz and tango merge into simplicity, harmony and warmth. Talinka creates a new distinctive sound that explores the unique and diverse journeys of four British musicians: Jenny Bliss, a baroque virtuoso artist, Yaron Stavi, one of the leading bass players in Europe, Gilad Atzmon, an internationally acclaimed Jazz saxophonist with an affinity for ethnic sounds and his wife Tali, whose singing has been paired up with her theatrical career. “It seemed there was nothing this enterprising quartet couldn't do to make the most of a wide range of material...That’s Jazz.” Nigel Jarrett, Jazz Journal
“Terrific emotional depth...very entertaining and richly enjoyable” Peter Jones, Bebop Spoken Here
The OHE needs no introduction. The ensemble has been touring extensively since 2000. The band has invented a unique blend of world jazz a mixture of bebop, Balkan, Arabic and Tango. Tonight they will play a mixture of their favourites.
Gilad is joined by John Turville (piano), Yaron Stavi (db) and Ted Carrasco (drums). “A formidable improvisational array...a local jazz giant steadily drawing himself up to his full height...”-John Fordham, The Guardian “Best Musician living in the world today" - Robert Wyatt, The Guardian
