London Medical Orchestra rounds off 2019 with a festive celebration featuring thrilling Russian orchestral works, the Khachaturian Sabre Dance and Shostakovich Festive Overture alongside Ralph Vaughan Williams’s tranquil Suite for Viola and Orchestra with violist Geoffrey Irwin.
We’re delighted to be joined again by the Tottenham Community Choir for the opening movement of Vivaldi’s Gloria and Carly Simon's Let the River Run, and we look forward to getting the tinsel out for Christmas carols with audience and full orchestral and choral accompaniment.
Join us for this celebration of the festive season - with mulled wine and mince pies, there’s something for all the family!
The LMO Christmas Concert at St Mellitus is always a popular event. We recommend reserving your tickets in advance.
Entry for children under 16 is just £2.
Profits from this year's concert will support Music in Hospitals and Care. MiHC is a charity providing live music sessions for people who are receiving care or treatment in healthcare settings across the UK. Since 1948, MiHC has been breaking down the barriers which prevent people, regardless of their health or wellbeing, from accessing the benefits of live music.
The London Medical Orchestra was formed in 1954, consisting mainly of refugee doctors and dentists from central Europe. Although many of the present members of the Orchestra are not members of the medical or ancillary professions, the Orchestra continues to support medical charities through fund-raising concerts. Among former conductors are Norman Del Mar, Colin Davis and Bernard Keefe. Sir Adrian Boult and Jacqueline du Pré are among our past Vice Presidents.
