The ever popular BluesClub returns to the Chichester Inn in honour of founder member and dear friend, Alan Rogan (bass) – legendary guitar technician for the Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh and Pete Townsend, who sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2019.

BluesClub features some of the UK’s greatest players who share a passion for the Blues of America from the 1930s to the 70s; a BluesClub performance is raw and spontaneous and the set-list often includes songs from artists as varied as Leadbelly, Son House and Charley Patton to Slim Harpo, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal and Canned Heat.

The line-up:

Robbie McIntosh (guitar)
Most well-known for his stints with The Pretenders and Paul McCartney’s, Robbie is truly one of the finest guitar players in the land. www.robbiemcintosh.com

Guy Fletcher (keyboards)
Guy Fletcher, fresh from Mark Knopfler’s world tour, joined Dire Straits in 1983 and soon became Mark’s right-hand man on all his projects. Guy has also toured or recorded with Cockney Rebel, Roxy Music, Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, Randy Newman… www.guyfletcher.co.uk

Danny Cunmmings (drums)
At age 12, Danny got hooked on percussion with a pair of bongos that his grandparents brought him from Trinidad. Apart from being Mark Knopfler's drummer, Danny has played percussion with Dire Straits, George Michael, the late John Martyn, Simply Red, Daniel Beddingfield, Talk Talk and Bryan Adams.

William Topley (vocals)
William Topley’s first album with his band The Blessing was produced by Neil Dorfsman (Sting, Dire Straits) who described him as “the most original songwriter I’ve heard in years.” www.williamtopley.com

Peter Hope-Evans (harmonica/Jew’s harp)
In 1968 Peter Hope-Evans formed the group Medicine Head with John Fiddler. Peter, known for his eccentric and raw style of Blues Harmonica, Jew’s harp and mouthbow playing has also toured with Pete Townsend. www.peterhope-evans.co.uk

Sophie Lord (bass)
Alan Rogan very much took the highly talented young Sophie Lord under his wing; he left her one of his bass guitars so it’s very fitting she’ll be performing with the band tonight. Sophie, also a protégée of the Blockheads’ Norman Watt-Roy is becoming much in-demand and well as the Blockheads she has performed with Stephen Dale Petit, Marlon Roudette and Viv Albertine.
