Hailing from Teesside and based in Newcastle for a long time until she was swept off her feet and up a hill in County Durham by her sheep farming husband, Katie Doherty is an award-winning songwriter.
She was the unanimous choice of judges Guy Chambers and Andy McClusky for the MBF award for Song Creation for her song 'Bridges', which became the title track of her first album released on Park Records.
Katie's latest project is a collaboration with fellow North East based musicians Dave Gray and Grace Smith (sometimes performed as a duo, as will be the case for 2nd September's show). They are now touring the new album, â€˜Flowâ€™, tracks from which have already had significant radio airplay to critical acclaim.
As a performer Katie has toured with and supported artists such as Kathryn Tickell, Karine Polwart, Ray Davies and Nitin Sawhney. Her songs are food for the soul â€“ prepare for them to stay with you...
