Vice Squad - the female fronted UK Punk Rock band that delivers short sharp songs with incisive lyrics spat out over a thunderous rhythm and machine gun Rock 'n' Roll guitars.
Renowned for their high energy live shows the band deliver their set with passion and humour and have been touring and releasing successful albums since the1980s.
The band's new album 'Battle of Britain' is due any day now, and tonight will be the official alum launch party, so bring your party hearty good self intent on having a bloody good time (all of the time, natch). Their last album 'Cardboard Country' was released on their own Last Rockers label and launched on the back of a very successful Pledge campaign raising funds for the Shelter homeless charity in line with the album title.
Vice Squad is fronted, as you'd wish, by raucous voiced singer/guitarist Beki Bondage, who was featured on the front cover of ALL the influential music tabloids back in the day. The band is 100% DIY and has no record company or management backing. Since reforming Vice Squad in 1997 the band has released several albums with powerful punk songs that are very well received by fans and press. In keeping with the DIY ethic the albums were recorded in the front room of Beki's South London flat. Bugbear are overjoyed to bring Vice Squad back to The Water Rats tonight...
Dread Messiah - classic Hackney 'ardcore outfit back on the road and in the Water Rats tonite to tear it a new one with their awesome, portentous punk/metal hybrid rifferama. With Big Grey up front, no doubt incorporating a bit of his infamous circus act talent (all seven foot plus of him) to help nail home just how good this band are.
Those Naughty Lumps - Original Liverpool punk/new wave band ('Iggy Pop's Jacket' on Zoo Recs is a classic 45) , darlings of Eric's from back in the as they say day when it was all Teardrops n Bunnymen n Wah and Pete Burns could safely be declared Alive. High comedy sax infused rip roaring social comment tweaked pop gems in dark glasses.
The Legendary Too Drunk - Irreverent venal venting and boisterous bonhomie combine beautifully in the punk pop world of Leg Too Drunk, who span the punk rock worlds of U.S '60s garage and U.K '70s front room all with a jollied up world view that's most endearing amidst the ramalama.
