Event information

Brilliant double headliner -
The Catenary Wires formed in 2014, initially as a duo.
Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey had previously been in Talulah Gosh, Heavenly, Marine Research and Tender Trap. The first Catenary Wires album "Red Red Skies" (Elefant/Matinée Recordings, 2015) was a marked departure from the fuzzy sixties-inspired girl-group pop of their earlier bands. It was more acoustic, emotive and melancholy.
With the release of their second album "Til The Morning" (Tapete, 2019), the band expanded to include Andy Lewis (bass), Fay Hallam (vox, keyboards) and Ian Button (drums). While the sound was bigger, the core of the band remained the dual vocals of Amelia and Rob.
The band have just completed their third album, to be released in May 2021. The first single "Mirrorball" is a lovesong inspired by eighties discos. It will be released on Shelflife (US) and their own new label, Skep Wax (UK and rest of world).

Pete Astor was the singer and songwriter in The Loft and The Weather Prophets; they were on Creation Records from the beginning and helped establish the feel and sound of the label.
Pete then made a series of solo records, including Submarine (1990, Creation) and Paradise (1992, Danceteria), the latter having recently been reissued on Tapete Records. He then formed The Wisdom of Harry and Ellis Island Sound (with David Sheppard) and signed to the Matador and Heavenly labels respectively, releasing albums under these guises until the early 2000s.
In 2005 he released Hal’s Eggs on Static Caravan and he has continued to release solo records on a variety of labels: Songbox (2011, Second Language), Spilt Milk (2015, Fortuna Pop), One For the Ghost (2017, Tapete) and You Made Me (2020, Faux-Lux).

Supported by European Sun
Steve Miles writes, sings and plays the songs of European Sun.
Rob Pursey and Amelia Fletcher play, sing and produce the songs of European Sun.
Ian Button does the drumming.
John Jervis presents the songs to the public.
Humble advocates for humanity, equity and justice, European Sun also make music.
The band’s first single, The Future’s Female, was released on the day the UK left the European Union. It was a simple song for the new decade, a rallying cry for progressive people to have hope in a future that threatens to be dark. Several more singles, equally both funny and serious, followed before the debut album was released in the autumn of 2020.
