Southampton has been a popular destination for immigrants for hundreds of years. Join Dr Michael Ng, chair of the Chinese Association of Southampton as he explores history of the Chinese community in Southampton.
Highlights include stories of Chinese survivors of the Titanic and memories of local people who have moved to Southampton since the 1940s.
Have you heard of the Chinese Labour Corps (CLC) who helped to free troops for frontline duty during the first world war? Find out more about them in this talk.
Dr Ng will also explore more recent connections, with the two universities and twinning links with Qingdao. And if your caught up in football fever, find out about Mr Gao the majority shareholder of Southampton Football Club!
Discover more about these and other Southampton connections with China, both historical and current, in this fascinating one off talk!
Please help support us by choosing how much you are happy to pay for this session. While all ticket buyers will receive the same level of service, your generosity would be a great help in making sure these events are affordable for all.
