2 to Link: Historical Violin/Viola Duo

2 to link is a historical violin/viola Duo ensemble with Miki Takahashi (violin) and Adam Romer (viola). Two of them have met while they were both studying with Prof. Lorand Fenyves, who was a musical guru in the city of Toronto, Canada at the time. Since then, Miki and Adam have been playing together in a various settings in ensembles and orchestras, but the most economical form of the ensemble was as a duo, and they have played concerts worldwide, including in Canada, Japan, Hungary, Germany, East Timor and of course, in UK. As you might have guessed, Miki and Adam are married by now and have 2 children.

2 to Link is not a usual violin/viola duo. They aim to liven up the music from classical era (last half of 18th Century - early 19th Century) by using “historical” or “period” instruments, which means their violin and viola are set up as it used to be back then. Miki and Adam have also a degree from University of Arts in Berlin for baroque violin/viola, and apply these knowledge to truly bring up the spirits of the music they perform.

Apart from playing duo ensemble, Miki Takahashi is currently a member of Feinstein Ensemble and Turini Ensemble, as well as performing regularly with major period ensembles in UK, such as English Concert, Gabrielli Consort and Early Opera Company. Adam is currently a section leader violist in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, a violist of Solomon Quartet and a leader of his own Hungarian folk band, “Folktone.”

There are a lot of unknown gems of violin/viola duets from classical era, and 2 to Link hopes to covey the charm of these music to the wider audience. Here is the ink to Vimeo showcase page where you can listen to some of the home recorded video of us.
