Esrtwhile leader of the Scorchers, Jason's place in history is assured as one of the originators of cow-punk and a pioneer of alt.country. Known to cover every inch of the stage and (often) the top of the venue's bar, he puts more energy into a solo show than most bands manage collectively. His most recent album Empire Builders (Yep Roc) is his strongest work yet: the political bite of New Fashioned Imperialist, the historical narrative of Tuskegee Pride and (of course) out-and-out barnstormers like his homage to Link Wray. For us, the man himself is also a legend.
