Kettering Arts Centre is proud to present Comedians & Carols again this Christmas!

This family friendly festive treat brings an amazing night of comedy, complete with sing-a-long carols on the big screen, jokes-a-plenty and seasonal snacks and drinks!

Stand Up Comedian & award winning comedy writer (BBC1's Not Going Out, the Lee Mack show, Miranda) Paul Kerensa will be returning with his very special Christmas Show to Kettering Arts Centre at St Andrew’s Church.

Paul Kerensa’s the in-demand comic who plays comedy clubs and cathedrals. He’s one of the few to have appeared both at London’s Comedy Store and on Radio 2’s Pause For Thought. A decade into his stand-up career, Paul’s one-man show has played to packed-out churches and other venues over the last few years, including festivals from Spring Harvest, Greenbelt and New Wine, to the Edinburgh Fringe and Montreal Comedy Festival. Most recently, he part of the writing team for TFI Friday, Top Gear, Royal Variety Performance and Buble at the BBC. Paul’s books include Amazon top 100 bestseller Hark! The Biography of Christmas and children’s book Noah’s Car Park Ark. Paul is a regular on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show.

‘If I was a joke thief, I would be shinning up Paul Kerensa’s drainpipe.’ Milton Jones
‘A comic wave that just keeps coming ... As effortless a writer as he is a performer.’ The Stage
‘Paul Kerensa's writing never fails to be uniquely funny and interesting. TV comedy is richer for Paul being a part of it.’ Miranda Hart

Jude Simpson is a unique writer and entertainer, combining insightful observational comedy with poetry, rap and song to create a unique act which leaves audiences smiling, laughing and occasionally hungry. Her writing is lighthearted and upbeat, though with a linguistic craftsmanship which has had her compared to Victoria Wood and Joyce Grenfell. Jude appeared with Matt Harvey on his Radio 4 show “Wondermentalist Cabaret”, on BBC Radio 7′s “Stand Up Poetry”, BBC Radio 4′s “Saturday Live”, BBC Radio 2's “Eddie Izzard’s Late Night Cabaret” and was one of just 8 poets from across the UK to appear on BBC3′s slam show “Slam Poets”, hosted by Lemn Sissay. Jude has completed four successful runs at the Edinburgh Festival with a solo show of stand-up poetry, song and comedy. These shows have been toured around the UK at arts festivals, theatres and other venues.

In May 2006, Jude won the Swindon Festival of Literature Poetry Slam. In August 2004 Jude won the Edinburgh International Book Festival slam organised by Big Word. In October 2003, Jude won the UK Allcomers Slam at the Cheltenham Literature Festival – the biggest slam poetry competition in Europe.

"Quick-fire humour, fast pace and punchy rhymes" Arts Hub
“rhythm, rhyme and the quirkiness of life” British Theatre Guide
"A charismatic and skilful performer" The Stage

Winner of Barnoldswick Comedian of the Year 2016, Runner-up in Nando’s New Comedian of 2015 and Finalist in Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year in July 2015; Stephen Cookson has been making a name for himself in the north of England. Now it's time the rest of the UK heard his quirky yet deadpan one liners and dry observations.

"Old whippersnapper and worryingly funny. Frankly I hope he stops doing comedy before he costs me work" Gary Delaney
"Stephen Cookson has some of the finest crafted one-liners on the circuit today. He also possesses a finely tuned comic timing way beyond his experience as a newer comic" Phil Walker
