Sam Outlaw is a singer-songwriter living in Nashville, TN. Born Samuel Morgan in South Dakota, his stage name comes from his late mother’s maiden name.
On November 12, 2021 Sam will release a new full length album, titled “Popular Mechanics”.
Working as an advertising executive in his twenties, he performed small bar gigs near his home in Los Angeles starting in 2009 but kept his advertising career until 2015, when he left his corporate job to become a full-time touring musician.
At age 33, Sam released his debut album “Angeleno" in 2015. Produced by Ry Cooder and Joachim Cooder, “Angeleno” introduced Sam as a distinctly assured voice in the Country and Americana scene. The album garnered awards and critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, NPR and countless others.
His follow-up album, “Tenderheart,” gave Outlaw his first foray into self-producing and further evolved his “So Cal Country” sound by introducing more elements of mainstream pop music. Also a critical success, “Tenderheart” was heralded as one of the year’s best country albums, supported by a full tour of North America and dozens of shows in Europe.
Raised on a grape farm in Fredonia, New York, singer/songwriter Ruthie Collins had already sharpened her craft in Boston and Texas before relocating to Nashville. Those diverse experiences are mirrored in her own music, whose blend of country, folk, and Americana is glued together by autobiographical lyrics and an achingly emotive voice. Collins introduced that sound with her self titled, six song EP in 2014, then expanded it with 2017's Get Drunk and Cry and 2020's Cold Comfort When the Covid 19 pan demic brought her touring plans to a halt, she funneled her creativity into new recordings like " Packaged alongside homemade acoustic renditions of crowd favorites like "Joshua Tree" and "Hey Little Girl," " appeared on 2022's Cold Comfort a deluxe reissue that added new layers to an already multi dimensional album.
Meanwhile, LA Times praised Collins' "sunny demeanor," Rolling Stone raved that " voice has the fluttery nuances more common in Seventies Laurel Canyon than in modern country," and Billboard praised her music's "ethereal vocals alongside soaring string features, minimal piano parts, and delicate percussion."
