J B Priestley, His Life and Work, with Simon Callow as JB Priestley and Lee Montague reading his story

We are delighted to welcome Patron of the library and most loved actor, director and writer Simon Callow, who with Lee Montague perform an evening devoted to one of the 20th century’s greatest British writers, JB Priestley.

Most famous nowadays for his two stage plays An Inspector Calls, and When we are Married, both regularly performed still, he also wrote award-winning novels, and his radio broadcasts extolling aspects of British life were hugely important in maintaining morale during the Second World War.

Later he campaigned for The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and social change. A fascinating life.

Come and hear these two marvelous actors tell you more, in the intimate surroundings of the library.

A Christmas treat for us all.

Please remember to bring a mask to help to protect the community just that bit more!
