Event information

Kettering Arts Centre presents a night of live music with the awesome local band EMPYRE plus support in aid of JOHNNY'S HAPPY PLACE!

BBC Introducing - “No stage is too big for these guys"

Empyre are on the rise. Since their debut album ‘Self Aware’ was released in 2019 they have won Classic Rock Magazine’s “Track Of The Week” on three separate occasions, performed sets before rock legends Eagles, Shinedown and Alter Bridge at Arena Birmingham and been one of very few rock acts to be featured on ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris’ “Under The Apple Tree” Sessions.

Sonically, Empyre perform intense, atmospheric rock, with a dark and introspective edge to their writing. In the words of BBC Introducing their music ranges from “Triumphant, chest beating rock” to more subtle but just as arresting numbers inviting you to do the deepest of soul searching. They’ve also been described as the love-child of Pink Floyd and Soundgarden.

Classic Rock Magazine have awarded them a 'High Hopes' feature, Kerrang! described their sound as "slick, vast and like the music was written with the help of an architectural blue print for an arena". Planet Rock heralded the band as ‘Ones to Watch’, playlisting the tracks ‘New Republic’ and ‘My Bad’ and on the strength of the 2020 Winter’s End performance immediately booked them for the Planet RockStock 2021 main stage.

Empyre show no signs of stopping there. Despite the 2020/2021 pandemic Empyre have been relentless. Treating the pandemic as an opportunity, the band used that time to write another electric album, release new material, build on their already strong following and partner with Yamaha Music Europe and Guitar World on their singles ‘Only Way Out (Piano Acoustic) and Drive (Acoustic) respectively. During that time they released 7 singles, 15 music videos and a studio recorded acoustic album ‘The Other Side’.
Lead Singer Henrik Steenholdt comments “Empyre’s primary goal has always been to play the major rock festivals of Europe, we’re pursuing that goal voraciously, and we won’t allow anything to get in our way”.

2021 has also seen the band return to the studio, starting work on their second electric album, gain rave reviews at a string of summer festival dates and tour the UK with Mason Hill.

Classic Rock Magazine - “The closest musical reference is Pearl Jam at their most glowering and emotionally intense”

Planet Rock – “Everything about EMPYRE’s beguiling music is colossal sounding”

Kerrang! - “Empyre … sound slick, vast and like the music was written with the help of an architectural blue print for an arena”

Guitar World – “Empyre have become masters at taking the formula for British atmospheric rock and infusing it with their arena-ready signature sound”
