The Ciderhouse Rebellion duo, joined for part of the evening by poet Jessie Summerhayes (as the trio Words of A Fiddler’s Daughter).
The Ciderhouse Rebellion duo is fiddle player Adam Summerhayes ("Paganini of the traditional violin.” fRoots) and master accordionist Murray Grainger.
"Two virtuoso musicians playing some of the most startling and original music you will ever encounter. Compelling, exciting and utterly original" Phil Beer
Everything they do has an improvisatory focus, so each performance is uniquely magical, whether springing from a single unplanned note or a trad tune.
“Grainger’s accordion with Summerhayes’s fiddle is especially beautiful.” Songlines
"free-flowing, ambitious and fiercely creative..” The Strad
When The Ciderhouse Rebellion team up with poet Jessie Summerhayes (recently featured on BBC Radio 4’s Power Lines) they become the trio Words of A Fiddler’s Daughter for a mix of spoken word with Jessie’s folk tone poems, plus Adam and Murray’s spontaneous music as a backdrop.
Jessie’s words are steeped in the same history and folklore that flows through the music of her father, inhabiting the protagonists and landscape of her beloved North East of England with her fresh and timeless voice. Her meticulously researched poems, also draw on the historical records and literary creations of the early-medieval period — The Magna Carta, the writings of The Venerable Bede, the Norse Saga - as well as the natural world.
