Supper Club host and organiser Chris Coull gets to showcase his own writing and arranging talents with his tribute to one of the most celebrated jazz artists of all time.

Duke Ellington was instrumental in defining the golden era of jazz; his band played at the notorious 'Cotton Club' in 1920's Harlem before going on to ever bigger and greater things in a career that spanned 6 decades.

Suavely penned writing from Chris, ensures the original colours and nuances from the various stages of the evolution of the Ellington Orchestra are brought to life, showcasing not only the great man's compositions but also the wide array of soloing talent evident in the band.

The band's vocalist Lucy Pickering punctuates the set list at various points creating an engaging and varied program. Trumpet wizard Gabriel Garrick leads from the front supported by Chris Coull's be-bop style. One of the country's leading saxophonists, Andy Panayi is on Alto and Mike Pilley completes the section on trombone. The rhythm section boasts one of the UK's top big band drummer in Pete Cater, and rock-solid bass man Dan Sheppard teams up with local pianist Terry Seabrook to complete the team
