By the summer of 1983, Dire Straits had spent 6 years recording four albums and touring with barely a day off. Their hard work led to them becoming a fabulously well-oiled live act. At the pinnacle of their live performance game, their last two tour dates from the legendary Hammersmith Odeon were captured in both sound and vision to became 'Alchemy: Dire Straits Live'.

The live album and video featured a selection of their biggest tracks at the time, from the evergreen 'Romeo and Juliet' to the powerhouse 'Telegraph Road' and not forgetting the song that started it all - 'Sultans of Swing', all perfected through years of touring.

Seven experienced and talented musicians, together with a dedicated sound engineer, have joined forces to create the Sultans. The band’s mission is to recreate those iconic Hammersmith shows note-for-note, word-for-word, emotion-for-emotion.

This is not a look-alike band. No boxy red jackets, leg warmers or other dodgy 80s clothes here (well maybe the odd headband…) The focus instead is on fine musicianship that creates an authentic Dire Straits sound.
