GETTING TO THE GIG:
Train
Lewes Railway Station is a 10 minute walk away, there are direct trains to/from London Victoria, Brighton, Seaford and Hastings. Last trains to Brighton are around midnight, timings can vary especially with engineering work, we recommend you check with
Buses –
The Club is between The Pelham Arms and Lewes Post Office/Law Court stops and is on the 28/29 Tunbridge Wells to/from Brighton route, the last bus to Brighton on a Saturday is currently at 23:57, but please check with Brighton and Hove Buses first.
Car Parking?
A – Lewes Con Club does not have a car park, but the public Westgate car park is about 200 metres away to the East. Unfortunately, it only has 27 spaces and can get full. There may be some street spaces on the High Street going West from the Club. However there is a large car park at County Hall which is free at night for public use. Going West from the Club on the High Street, Its approached from a small lane next to a Church and opposite the Pelham Arms, or heading from Brighton it’s a different entrance and a right turn at the traffic lights into County Hall and then turning into the car park on the left (East) which is nearer the Club.
DEVIANT AMPS
Deviant Amps are a three piece psychedelic rock band based in Essex. Blending hypnotic rhythms and driving riffs they create a psychedelic wall of sound in which vocals weave in and out, often building up to a singalong chorus. The band have just released their latest double album CD called “Countdown To A Cosmic Ego Death”.
Stalwarts on the UK psyche festival scene, they have been plying their blend of psychedelia since their emergence in the early 80’s, headed throughout with Paul ‘Woodbine’ Woodwright (Devora/Glissando Guitar Orchestra/ SpacedOgs) on guitar and vocals. Justin Prescott - bass and Keith Chenery – drums complete the line-up. They are occasionally joined by guest synth players, recently with Seaweed (ex-Ozric Tentacles), Dave Onley (SpacedOgs) and Jez Creek (ESP Modulator).

NUKLI
Born from the Squats and Free Festivals of the 80's, <
Based in London, psychedelic alternative rock maestros NUKLI have a message: “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood!” UK free festival veterans, vocalist and guitarist Kev Hegan and bassist Mark Huxley were part of the space punk band PSi, who's bus carried Nik Turner's Stonehenge Free Festival stage around the alternative events of the early 80's. Their tape, Psychelektra Trip Projekta, featuring mad cut ups between, and even during tracks, was a favourite on the scene. That band changed its name to PSi NUKLI, putting out another cassette in 1988 entitled 9, still featuring the trademark vocal samples and cut ups, with a companion tape called Side Effects, which was a more chilled electronic affair. The PSi and the NUKLI factions finally went their separate ways and became two bands, with Kev playing in both offshoots. NUKLI, the forerunner of today's band, released its first cassette in 1993, Mushroom Bunglow Musick, and finally its first CD, The Time Factory, in 1997 on Delerium Records.
Joined in 2000 by Peter Out, who had a similarly alternative musical background in South Africa, (where being in opposition to the government could literally mean prison or worse), the band’s current members are Kev Hegan – vocals, guitar and keyboard; Mark Huxley – bass; and Peter Out – drums.
Their latest release “There Is Another Way” is out now on Bandcamp.

PARADISE 9
Paradise 9 are a four- piece rock band based in London and Brighton. Formed in 1997 by Gregg McKella, they released their first album “Showtime” in 1998.
Their music brings a chilled yet punchy approach to the rock genre sound, taking inspiration from psychedelic bands like Hawkwind, Pink Fairies, Ozric Tenticles, Gong and Here & Now while fusing proto and post punk from the Ramones through to the Clash, while fusing with Wire and Psychedelic Furs.
To date they have 3 studio albums “Showtime” (1998) and “Take Me to the Future” (2013), a live CD “Live at the Amersham Arms 2014”, a DVD “Live at On-board the Craft 2013”, a double live “20th Anniversary 1997 ~ 2017” CD and in 2021 have released their new studio album “Science Fiction Reality”, on Flicknife Records with the album already receiving some great reviews and radio airplay.

" If Paradise 9 had been around back in the day, then surely their space-punk vibe would have made them great stablemates for the likes of Inner City Unit, Underground Zero, and yes, Hawkwind themselves, on the 1980s Flicknife roster. Fast forward to 2021, and how fantastic to see them join the resurgent Flicknife label now! Sharp indeed!" Ian Abrahams, RC
" Tremendous space rock with an intelligent and optimistic zen-punk message" It’s Psychedelic Baby! Magazine
" Paradise9 is one of the great undiscovered bands of the 21st century" Abi Rhodes, Zigzag Wanderings
“ …this for me is music of rock origin, hints of just about anything else that they can fit in, all wrapped around a punk vocal style that spits out its anger at the state of the planet and the human apathy toward it. Of its time music, with a conscience." Mark Cartwright – The Punk Site
