Expect an evening of melodic jazz, Latin grooves and a sparkling performance from these four renowned musicians. Swing, Bossa Nnova, Afro-Cuban grooves and a sense of fun.

Deirdre Cartwright is a London based guitarist and composer who first became well known in the 1980s for presenting the BBC TV’s ground breaking series 'Rockschool' and for playing in the Afro Latin Jazz group 'The Guest Stars' along with Alison Rayner. They recorded three albums and toured in 17 countries. She has recorded five albums with her own Deirdre Cartwright Group, played with legendary guitarist Tal Farlow, studied in America with Mick Goodrick, toured with the Jamaican composer Marjorie Whylie, and presented on BBC Radio 3.

‘If there is a more complete guitarist in contemporary music than Deirdre Cartwright – I’d like to know who it is’ The Observer

Bassist and composer Alison Rayner leads the multi award-winning quintet ARQ, who are widely celebrated from several years of extensive UK and European touring and critically acclaimed for their three album releases. ARQ won Best Ensemble in the 2018 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and in 2019 Alison won an Ivor Novello Composer Award.

‘Playing bass with a big, beautiful bass sound that comes from the heart… characterized by individuality, spirit and a sense of freedom.’ Val Wilmer, author, As Serious as Your Life

Diane McLoughlin is a highly regarded saxophonist, composer and arranger. Giant Steppes, her 17-piece jazz orchestra, performed to critical acclaim throughout Britain, including a BBC Radio 3 live concert broadcast and interview. She leads chamber jazz group The Casimir Connection, who recently released their debut album Cause and Effect.

‘Attractively punchy and highly emotive, McLoughlin’s soaring alto solo vibrates with echoes of the late Cannonball Adderley‘ The Guardian

Jessica Palin has played congas and percussion with dancers and theatre companies as well as Latin, African, Jazz and Rock bands. She has toured worldwide with artists including Steve Winwood, Shriekback and circus theatre company Ra Ra Zoo.

'A skilful vibrant percussionist with sparkling invention and creativity' Sydney Morning Herald
