A new season of Blow the Fuse evenings at St Matthias Hall in the heart of Stoke Newington, London N16
Carol Grimes is a towering presence in the UK music scene; from busking in the streets as a teenager to touring internationally with contemporary classical group The Shout.
Blues was her first love. Her first band, The Race, a blues band appeared at Ronnie Scotts. After having her first child, she joined the jazz rock blues band Delivery with Steve and Phil Miller, Lol Coxhill and Roy Babbington. Two solo albums, Nashville and in Memphis exploring roots and folk music, then Soul and R'n'B.
Blues led naturally to jazz, and she recorded many more albums into the 2010s. Carol is a truly genre-busting artist and her music embraces drama and love.
'Wild, declamatory soulfulness' John Fordham The Guardian
'Equal parts Marsha Hunt, Julie Driscoll and Merry Clayton, turning her song poems into seductive, hypnotic and terrifying incantations. A remarkable piece.'
