The Days invites the audience to share an encounter with two exceptional Finnish dancers. Staged in-the-round and featuring nuanced and visceral dance that rips across the floor at the audience's feet The Days engenders a world of shifting negotiations, complex feelings and comic disconnection. Taking the form of a lifetime shared, this is a compelling, absurd and heartfelt duet about care, resilience and the desire for connection.

Choreographer and designer, Theo Clinkard was raised in Calstock and is now based in Ashburton, Devon. Over the last 10 years he has built an international reputation for creating affecting and visually arresting work for his company, including This Bright Field which premiered at Brighton Festival. He follows commissions for major companies including Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and Candoco with The Days, his first full-length duet work.

The Days is the initiative of Maria Nurmela and Ville Oinonen, two Finnish dance artists who regularly collaborate and tour internationally with companies and choreographers whilst also creating their own independent productions. In 2017 they invited Theo to create a duet they could perform together.
The UK tour is supported by The Finnish Cultural Foundation, Regional Dance Center of the Western Finland and by the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland.

This performance is due to happen in the Studio upstairs at the Arts Centre – there is no lift in the building – access is via a 20 step staircase.
