Event information

Oliver Cherer (Sencond Language Music, Clay Pipe Music etc) - St Leonard's very own Oliver Cherer comes to Southend to play Tea and Oranges. We love his 2019 record "I Feel Nothing Most Days" and this then led to discovering all his other music such as Gilroy Mere and Dollboy etc.

Bio

**2017 – present - Gilroy Mere – two albums issued by Clay Pipe Music – The Green Line, psychogeographic instrumental album about London’s long-gone, city-to-countryside green buses and Adlestrop, a record based on the axed railways stations, using the Beeching Report as its inspiration. This is to be followed later this year with a third Gilroy Mere album on Clay Pipe.
2020 The Whalebone Box with Riz Maslen and Andrew Kötting – worked with Andrew Kötting on the soundtrack to his 2020 feature film The Whalebone Box with the results issued by Invada Records.
2021 – Piroshka – toured as bass player for indie supergroup Piroshka.
2022 – Aircooled – look out for the debut release from Aircooled, a new band featuring members of Elastica, Jesus And Mary Chain and The Wedding Present.
This is just a skeletal look at the Ollie’s music over the years. In between there has been music for adverts, podcasts, live improvised film soundtracks and theatre music, including a run playing for a live “sitcom” in Gary Hume’s drawing room (now on permalink on the Royal Academy’s website)!

Plantman - our good friends and bonafide southend legends “Plantman” playing in support of the incredible Oliver Cherer.

Singer songwriter Matt Randall has been making music for many years in these parts starting out in Beatglider, but has also been in bands such as Ghost Music, Hillmisters, Melodiegroup, CableCar and more. Plantman started in collaboration with Adam Radmall (PlusPlus) supporting matts songwriting but ads moved to Japan, though still contributes a lot on recording when possible. Matt’s guitar tone is synonymous with many records recorded at John Hannon’s renowned “No” studio. All matt’s solo/Plantman albums were recorded there. One Of our many hidden treasures in this particular corner of the country and certainly one of the most resplendent of those. A wise craftsman of guitar, words and songwriting. We’re honoured to have our pals Plantman playing this support.
