*** REEMA ***

Recently relocated back to Brighton from Berlin, singer-songwriter, Reema, creates bitter- sweet, delicate folk songs with lyrics that explore being human. Her themes run through self-esteem and learning to enjoy others greatness to coping with loss to the importance of kindness. Her deeply personal concerts are all about communicating with her audience, sharing stories and often tears. Decorated with delicate woodwind and brass or just in a duo set up of electric guitar, voice and her close friend, Stefan on bass clarinet.

Reema has a hand-made approach, not only to her music, but also in her artwork and stage clothing printed from her paintings of animals, plants and swirling patterns. She has worked with great producers like Stephen Street And Ethan Johns and has written songs for film ‘Love Rosie’ and the ‘Twilight Eclipse’ soundtrack. Her first releases were live, analogue and computer-free vinyl records, ‘The Lowswing Sessions’ and 'Memories Fade to Tape' with arrangements by award-‐winning producer, Guy Sternberg. The records both sold out on their release dates. Reema then released her first digital EP, ‘Lioness’, on 21st May 2020. The EP was created live with bass clarinet, clarinet, flute and trombone and little accents of trumpet and percussion with production and arrangements by her bandmate and close friend, Stefan Baumann. The minimal approach made sure the songs and their messages are right at the front of the production. It is an uncut and honest look into Reema’s heart-felt song writing and clear, glass-like vocals.

The EP was well received with radio play in both the UK and Germany from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Ulster, Scala FM, Talk Radio, NDR Kultur, HR2 and Radio Eins.
Building on the world created by the ‘Lioness’ EP, Reema teamed up with Stefan Baumann again to produce ‘Rooftops & Riversides,’ an EP of five songs dedicated to and inspired by Reema’s oldest and closest friends. A reflection after being separated from them by lockdown and moving countries. At the heart of the EP are still live performances of Reema’s ethereal voice and subtle electric guitar with Stefan’s arrangements of woodwind and brass being complimented by soft sound design and field recordings by Constantin Carstens, a young artist from Berlin, who also mixed the record with Stefan. A strong connection through music between Berlin and Brighton at a time when travel was no longer possible made this record a very special communication between friends separated by a massive global event.
