Charlie Austen
Charlie creates dynamic finger-picking folk-soul with an emphasis on carefully crafted lyrics, intricate guitar parts and unusual melodies to suit an airy-yet-powerful, blues-infused vocal style. All delivered with a genuine smile and, more often than not, a conspicuous lack of shoes...
Charlie has caught the eye of Squeeze frontman and Ivor Novello award-winning songwriter Glenn Tibrook, as well as Roxy Music frontman and icon Bryan Ferry, leading to high-profile support tour dates in Europe and extensively around the UK. Charlie also features as a vocalist for cult R&B band Nine Below Zero and in various roles for DIY Indie band Lux Lisbon.
Roger Askew
Roger Askew grew up in the North East of England, playing in local bands. One of these, Arbre, signed a record deal and released two albums in the late ‘70s. Touring, TV and radio followed but success was elusive. Roger moved to London and worked with a variety of bands and musicians before joining Bliss as keyboard player. Their First album on EMI reached the top of the charts in Italy and did well in Germany, and other European countries as well as in South America.
Roger was increasingly getting work in recording studios and started engineering and producing. His engineering skills led to work with Joe Strummer, Wilko Johnson, Peggy Seeger, Eternal, Mica Paris, Guo Yue and many others, while he produced or co produced recordings by Martin Southwood, Christy Moore, Eleanor Shanley, Spikedrivers and Nicola Hitchcock. Roger has released three albums of his own songs, with help from some great musicians, Scarab Moon, Big Fire and Hurt Lies and Lovesongs.
He has focussed on songwriting recently, co writing with several songwriters including album tracks for Charlie Austen, Emma Ballantine and Nashville recording artist Anna Howie. Roger has also found time to work with Broken Bones Matilda, produce tracks for Texan singer songwriter George StClair, and has produced the first album by Rob Corcoran and the Necessary Evils, with whom he regularly performs live. Roger has recently produced an album for Americana band Ragtop Down. He has also produced Jason McNiff's album The Dust of Yesterday which has gained four star reviews in The Times and Mojo and great reviews in many other publications along with a healthy quota of radio plays. Rob Corcoran' s second album Grand Declarations is now available for pre order from his website. Recorded with The Necessary Evils at the wonderful Echo Zoo studios,
this Roger Askew produced album will be featured at live gigs during 2022.
Roger is currently working on a new album for Pepe Belmonte.
