Event information

London Prog Gigs are proud to present A SUNDAY IN SEPTEMBER 2022, an all-day festival of the best in modern progressive music.

LESOIR are a Dutch melodic art/prog band, founded in 2009 and influenced by such bands as A Perfect Circle, Tool, Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Marillion and Steven Wilson. Guitarist Ingo Dassen says “Lesoir feature two female multi-instrumentalists and although we flirt with prog, we aren’t dedicated prog. We flirt with a lot of genres but keep the emotion central. Freaky time signatures are great, but a great melody or hook that stays in your head is just as important. We just follow our heart, and don’t think too much of genres”. They have toured extensively in Europe, supporting Riverside, and most recently, Kayak on their farewell tour. They are currently promoting their fifth album ‘Mosaic’, the album that “finally defines them”.

PEARL HANDLED REVOLVER have been on a ten-year journey from the limits of primal blues, via unlikely liaisons between cult film scores and bare bones Stoner Rock, to blackened psychedelic soul music. They play with passion, they play with heart and on stage they deliver exhilarating, psychedelic live performances. "They sound like some half-remembered dream you had about Tom Waits fronting the Doors. Creepy, groovy and utterly infectious". – Classic Rock Magazine

THE GIFT deliver a committed and fiery performance. Frontman Mike Morton delivers their musical stories with passion and panache, and are one of the most arresting live acts on the UK scene right now. Steve Hackett and Antony Phillips are supporters of the band; having both contributed to past albums, they each testify to the band’s live power. Recently reinvigorated by some line-up changes, a new album is eagerly anticipated this year.

DOWNRIVER DEAD MEN GO from the Netherlands are a mesmerising, atmospheric, cinematic post-rock band. Slow, sad and beautiful, their melancholic sound ranges from post-rock to touches of prog and dark wave. This year they are touring to promote their third album RUINS, and A Sunday in September will be their first ever performance in the UK!

EBB are a genre-defying group of five women and one guy with a mission to “Bring Prog to the People!” The band boldly bring in riveting instrumental soundscapes, spoken word poetry, and iconic space whispers to accompany the onslaught of skilled drums, searing keyboards and soulful guitar, all overlayed by Erin’s powerful vocals and deeply personal lyrics. Recently tour support for Hawkwind, Prog Magazine described them as having “an intoxicating effect!”

Sadly Maud the Moth is unable to perform as originally advertised due to a scheduling conflict. We hope this amazing act will be able to appear at a future London Prog Gigs event.

The Bedford is a delightful pub/restaurant venue in Balham, just a few minutes' walk from the Northern Line tube station. The separate live music room is set up with tables and chairs in 'cabaret style', although there is also room for standing at the back, plus further seating is available in the balcony area.

Please note there will be a break in the performance between approx. 5.30pm and 7pm, when attendees are encouraged to leave the live room to allow soundchecks to take place for the evening set. Good food and drink is available at the venue, or at many other establishments nearby.
