This triple-header is a unique opportunity to catch three of the region’s finest emerging songwriters and live performers sharing the stage and trading songs.
Lizzey, Boo and Carol will be on stage together, taking it in turns to play intimate, stripped-back versions of their best known compositions and previews of some new material. If you’ve seen the Songwriters’ Circle shows on TV, you’ll know how special this kind of event can be.
Carol Hodge
Carol is a seven-fingered, piano-pounding singer-songwriter. Think Regina Spektor meets Billy Bragg, but with a continuous existential crisis, sandwiched between bitter irony and relentless optimism. You won’t know whether to laugh or cry, but will definitely feel something. Carol is a regular collaborator with Crass founder Steve Ignorant and Texan country rock star Ryan Hamilton, and has guested with Ginger Wildheart, Headsticks and The Membranes. She recently won Classic Rock’s Track Of The Week reader vote.
Lizzey Ross
Lizzey produces punchy, ethereal and elevated, folk-rock ballads in acoustic (and sometimes electronic) arrangements, effortlessly driven by her powerhouse vocals. Mindful yet restless, this music delves for meaning in the mundane and finds it within arresting melodies and enthralling dynamics.
Boo Sutcliffe
Boo is known as a captivating live performer whose music pushes at the boundaries between americana, indie and folk. Building on the success of his acclaimed 2021 debut album ‘Blink’, his new EP, ‘You’re The Same As Me’, is cementing his reputation as a creator of “beautifully crafted songs” with “lyrics of subtly and depth” (RnR Magazine). Boo has already supported bona fide rock star Dan Reed, indie-folk pioneers The Breath, Toploader and The Green Rock River Band.
At the artists’ request, the advance ticket price for this special event has been kept down to just £7 (more on the door).
