For the tenth time we bring the sound of DIY now to our little East Midlands enclave for a whole day of POP! fun, like so:
ME REX
What started as Myles McCabe's bedroom project became a band and spawned a series of acclaimed EPs, two in 2022 alone, plus 2021's high concept album Megabear. An explosive, fun live presence, we're glad to have them headline our decima go-round.
Chemtrails
One of the first bands we put on post-lockdowns and a group whose fried psychy garage-punk is always very welcome around here, the now Manchester based Mia, Laura and co are preparing their third album for PNKSLM.
adults
Having grown an audience over the previous few years 2022 album 'for everything, always', released through Fika Recordings and recorded by ME REX's Rich Mandell, crystallised their existential noise-emo-punk-pop.
Lilith Ai
The singer-songwriter's 2021 DIY debut album Folk You Hard brought together elements of bedroom pop, anti-folk and indie rock, combining lo-fi soundscapes with deeply personal introspective lyrics.
Breakup Haircut
Since having to pull out of last year's Alldayer the First Timers Fest alumni have sharpened their witty, truth telling punk-pop and released the acclaimed, riotous debut album Punk Dancing For Self Defence. Better late than never.
Murder Club
Newport's fuzzy, synthy, hooky "Quiet Grrrls of Riot Grrrl", graduates from the legendary Le Pub, could be your new favourite band. Ask the Wedding Present, who had them as tour support in September.
Fan Rights
We stumbled across these newish Nottingham fuzzy bedroom power-pop merchants recently, around the time they opened for C86 favourites The Chesterfields, and knew we had to bring them to a bigger audience.
The Verinos
Formed as part of the Unglamorous Music initiative getting ordianry women to play music, garage punks The Verinos are "smart-arsed older women with *tunes*, brilliant energy and a fun approach to putting the world to rights."
