Join us for a very special event, as we celebrate 21 years of cultural irrelevance and glorious commercial failure with antigen records and four of the artists who have helped shape Ipswich town’s most offbeat and uncompromising record label.
This anniversary extravaganza is brought to you in association with The Smokehouse and it takes place at one of Ipswich’s most iconic venues – The Baths in St. Matthew’s Court.
Once famous for hosting Led Zeppelin in 1971, The Baths will surely be remembered in another 50 years’ time as the place Earth Mother Fucker took to the stage for the antigen records 21st anniversary celebration. And you have a chance to be part of it.
Live music until 11.30pm with five live acts, surprise guests, and DJ sets until 1am, with a late bar. Featuring:
Henry Homesweet - out of retirement for one night only! The international chip-tune legend returns to Ipswich for his first public show in over a decade.
Earth Mother Fucker – the original EMF. Skeletal sexagenarian noise rock malcontents, riding a career high after their signature tune was selected by Independent Venue Week as one of the nine best examples of live music in 2020. A band that rocks like every gig could be their last.
Supported by Hollywood extra, nude model and Warp Records refugee, John Callaghan. John is a renaissance man in a suitcase. A suitcase stuffed with weird and alarming costumes for every song in his live repertoire. Once you’ve witnessed his auto-karaoke show, no therapy will erase the experience.
London duo Sealionwoman lure listeners into a crepuscular realm where history and myth intersect. Kitty Whitelaw’s vocals have drawn comparisons as varied as Mina Agossi and Diamanda Galás. Tye McGivern’s depthless drones create a brooding narcotic fugue intercut with bursts of brutal Bartok pizz and surges of distortion.
And finally, the answer to the question on everyone’s lips, what do you get when you crossbreed a parish priest from Essex with two members of Dingus Khan? The answer is Rev Simpkins: Pissabed Prophet. The Rev’d Matthew Jonathan Simpkins, Councillor Benjamin Brown and music biz mogul Benjamin Ward offer an exclusive peek at material from their forthcoming album!
