Helen McCookerybook is a legendary singer-songwriter from London. Originally in punk bands including The Chefs, Helen now tours solo and is promoting her new album 'Drawing On My Dreams' which features contributions from Lindy Morrison (Go-Betweens), Ann Wood (The Raincoats) and electronic musician Steve Beresford.
The Verinos have made a lot of people smile since their formation just over a year ago. They've won awards, been on the front cover of Best Magazine, were selected to play Glastonbudget Festival at their second ever gig and keep gaining new fans every time they play. They're smart-arsed older women with *tunes*, brilliant energy and a fun approach to putting the world to rights. The band's original garage punk songs show that ordinary women are mighty wise and cool; The Verinos are truly a modern-day phenomenon happening right now in Leicester.
First on are another Leicester all-women band - Velvet Crisis. After their first gig, they were asked to play a big Trades Union event because of their spot-on song lyrics and brilliant attitude. Velvet Crisis are women with big ideas, a bit of bad language and disco shoes. Hear them ROAR!
The Soundhouse is in central Leicester near The Curve Theatre, where there is on-street parking and a nearby NCP.
