Marconi Union make their first visit to Coventry with their new live AV show to perform tracks from the album Signals and selections from their highly acclaimed discography. Despite having released twelve albums in the last eighteen years the Manchester musicians continue to experiment and push boundaries.
The band set to writing Signals with a whole new swathe of influences: “We talked about what it'd be like to have drummers like Jaki Leibezeit or Tony Allen playing on our music. How would that affect how we wrote?” Alongside other influences from Krautrock to Electronica, Signals enters exciting new territory.
Marconi Union fit somewhere between artists such as Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, Biosphere and Boards of Canada - whilst at the same time having their own distinct sound. They are best known for Weightless which has being described by academics and others as ‘the most relaxing piece of music ever made’. It has over 290 million audio streams and 140 million YouTube streams. They have worked with many other artists including Jah Wobble, Max Richter, Biosphere, Steve Jansen (Japan) and Marina Ambramovich Institute. The group have previously played at a variety of festivals and events, notably Big Chill festival and Punkt! Festival in Norway, the latter at the invitation of Brian Eno. In late 2019 they toured with Canadian artist Loscil and in April this year played a sell-out London show with Carbon Based Lifeforms.

Marconi Union’s live appearances are a swirling atmospheric mixture of melodies, hypnotism, and emotion.
