After the huge success of his last ever sell-out show, Edinburgh award-winning comedian
Phil Ellis is going in his first national tour!. Join him and discover how love and family finally gave a 40 year-old, house-sharing idiot the direction and happiness he so desperately needed.
“Ellis, as a character, is both completely likeable and absolutely appalling”
The Scotsman ★★★★★
Phil Ellis is an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy. He has recently starred and co-written (with Fraser Steel) 3 series of his own BBC Radio 4 sitcom Phil Ellis is Trying, co-starring Johnny Vegas, Lolly Adefope, Amy Gledhill, Alexei Sayle, Sindu Vee, Jack Dee, Lee Mack, Mark Lamar and Sean Lock. The series was nominated for a BBC Audio Award in 2019.
“Ellis emerges as a very clever comedian with a deep understanding of the genre”.
The List ★★★★
Solidifying his reputation in 2014 with his undisputed anarchic sleeper hit of a show Funz and Gamez, Phil won the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award’s panel prize. After meeting incredible critical acclaim, Funz and Gamez was broadcast as part of BBC Radio 4’s Fresh from the Fest, as well as part of BBC Comedy Feeds (BBC Three). The show went on to have an 18-show run at the Soho theatre, slots at all major comedy festivals and several runs at the Udderbelly on Southbank. Ellis’s recent Edinburgh shows, Phil Ellis is Ready For The Big Time (2018) and Phil Ellis: Au Revoir (2019) continued this success, the latter playing again at the Soho Theatre in 2021.
“Much cleverer and much more stupid than you might think’”
Chortle ★★★★
Phil’s TV appearances include The Russell Howard Hour (Sky), Roast Battle (Comedy Central) There She Goes (BBC Two), Drunk History: UK (Comedy Central), as well as writing and performing credits on BBC Three’s The Tapeface Tapes and also co-wrote 3 comedy shorts for Dave.
