Bodys presents: living body + beige palace

9.15pm living body
Living Body is the project from Leeds-based Chicagoan Jeff T. Smith (f.k.a. juffage) featuring longtime collaborators Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, Sleater-Kinney, Courtney Barnett, Wild Beasts), Tom Evans (Vessels) Alice Rowan (Mayshe-Mayshe), Sarah Statham (Crake, Fig by Four) and Jack Burgess-Hunt.
The group has toured extensively throughout the UK, EU and North America, including performances at SXSW, Canadian Music Week, Tramlines, Sŵn, ArcTanGent, Long Division, and Deer Shed Festivals, with sessions for BreakThru Radio and Daytrotter.
Their debut LP Body Is Working was received favourably by BrooklynVegan, Stereogum, Exclaim!, Drowned In Sound, the Skinny, God Is In The TV, and Louder Than War, with airplay on BBC 6 Music, Radio 3, Amazing Radio and others.
Expanding on the need for music to bring joy into the lives of others, and Smith’s fascination with the contortion of the pop song into a uniquely imaginative and immediate form, Living Body aims to exist in a world of skin, confusion and information overload.
“Delicate and dramatic indie … they can do high-energy rippers too.” – Stereogum
“Body is Working is a fascinating curio of an album, and quite beautiful in its complexities.” – God Is In the TV Zine

8.30pm beige palace
Beige Palace is a minimalist rock trio from Leeds, featuring Ant Bedford (drums/vocals), Kelly Bishop (keys/violin/vocals) and Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe (guitar/vocals). Incubated at the notorious noise-rock-melting-pot rehearsal spot CHUNK, and having cut their teeth touring with the likes of Shellac and Mclusky, the band tends to adopt a subtler approach than many of their peers. Drawing as much inspiration from Ivor Cutler and Bjork as from Deerhoof and This Heat, they have been described as "beautifully unnerving" by Kerrang! and "stalking, ominous" by Pink Wafer. Since the release of 'Leg' in April 2019, Beige Palace has often adopted the Lungfish approach of remaining "dormant more often than not", but a second LP 'Making Sounds For Andy' is due for release via Human Worth in early 2023.
