CHARLEY STONE PRESENTS another non-hierarchical evening of non-hierarchical DIY indie-"art"-punk, bringing in the weekend with live musical entertainment at a respectable hour, before continuing the merriment and wassailing in the bar upstairs (optional extra). All part of the ongoing quest to #BringBackTheBuffalo, isn’t it Viewers? Yes.

On this occasion, the running order will be as follows:

THE ABBA STRIPES – 7.30pm
The long-awaited return of The ABBA Stripes! The mysterious duo are back with their revelatory exploration of the alternative “rock” (& pop) timeline, where ABBA’s musical output began as a pared-down blues-rock “vibe” played on just one electric guitar and a set of drums. Expect songs about eagles, campfires and meditations on the nature of “fame” and all that it has to “offer”.

SASSYHIYA – 8.15pm
“Sitting in the sweet spot between post-punk and indie pop, Sassyhiya know their way around a melody but still keep it wonky” it says somewhere on the internet, and you know what, Viewers, I don’t think I can put it better than that. As if by magic, as I’m typing this, their top tune “I had a thought” has just come on shuffle on my preferred streaming service, leading me to further report that their songs are deliciously balanced, with lots of space between all the little melodies and rhythms weaving around each other on guitars/bass/drums as well as vocals and oh, gosh, I don’t know. I just really really love them! They make me smile, and they make me want to dance! And who can argue with that, hmmm?

CHARLEY STONE w/ACTUAL BAND – 9.10pm
Yes, it is I, Charley Stone, your correspondent and host for this evening – and as on previous evenings this gig will feature the Actual Band, augmenting and embiggening the songs. Following our last performance, some Viewers made very positive comparisons with Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers, and who am I to argue with the Viewers? Expect a mixture of garage-rock style songs with naïve lyrics, and fragile-vocal “ballads” telling poetic tales of unrequited “feelings”, etc.
