Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves are two of the most admired musicians on today’s roots music scene. This acclaimed Canada/USA duo draws on influences from folk, old time Americana and bluegrass, creating a sound that’s adventurous, masterful, and original. Expect an enthralling mix of beguiling fiddle and banjo tunes and powerful songs.
Please check ticket type listings carefully (we have discounted options for under 23s (16-22) and under 16s) and select the right one for you when booking.
Canadian banjoist Allison de Groot has achieved success as a member of Molsky’s Mountain Drifters and in a duo with step dancer Nic Gareiss. American fiddle ace Tatiana Hargreaves has performed and recorded with luminaries including Jake Blount, Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings. Allison and Tatiana’s 2019 debut album garnered glowing reviews, and their second album Hurricane Clarice (2022) continues their adventurous approach to traditional music. Allison and Tatiana were a big hit as guest stars on the prestigious Transatlantic Sessions live tour early this year and return to our shores in May 2023 for their own UK tour. We can't wait to welcome them back to Meltham, where they wowed a sellout audience back in 2019!
"While Allison de Groot and Tatiana Hargreaves’ debut rightfully saw them critically acclaimed as a shining new force in string band music, Hurricane Clarice shows their light to be even brighter." - Folk Radio UK
PLUS BANJO & FIDDLE WORKSHOP, 2pm to 3.30pm
Allison & Tatiana will also lead an afternoon fiddle & banjo workshop. The workshop will explore the dynamics of a banjo-fiddle duo, working on how to listen, respond, interact, improvise variations, and pick up new tunes on the fly. All levels of students are welcome, although to get the most out of the session you will likely be at least early intermediate level.
