Due to overwhelming demand we've added a second screening of this amazing film!
PLEASE NOTE: all profits will go to the Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal.
Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam ("The Man Who Saved the World") is a 1982 Turkish science fantasy adventure film also known as Turkish Star Wars because of its notorious use of unauthorized footage from Star Wars and other movies worked into the film.
The musical soundtrack is entirely lifted from popular hit movies. The main theme used is "The Raiders March" from Raiders of the Lost Ark, while other scenes incorporate the music of Moonraker, Ben-Hur, Flash Gordon, Giorgio Moroder's version of Battlestar Galactica, Planet of the Apes, Silent Running, Moses and Disney's Black Hole.
Upon its initial release, the film was panned by critics for its incoherent story line, poor performances, and use of stock footage and music from other films. Despite this (or possibly due to this), the film has gained a significant cult following over the years. Recently remastered in 2K from the last remaining 35mm print, it can now be enjoyed in all its HD glory!
So set your phasers to "fun" and join us for a (slightly belated) 40th anniversary screening of one of the most unique cinematic experiences of all time, bad or otherwise! Two men crash land on an alien planet and have to fight skeletons, zombies and giant muppets before taking on a 1000 year-old wizard who is seeking ultimate power to take over the world...what more could you possibly ask for?! Trust us, it's far more entertaining than your Mandalorians and whatnot. So, beam up your tickets pronto and may the false be with you!
"It lives up to ALL the hype. You need to make everyone you know see this movie." - Best Worst Movies Ever
"It’s not every day I get to see a movie that makes me laugh so hard it makes me vomit." - Rare Cult Cinema
"Jaw-droppingly insane ... a film that makes criticism moot." - Film Threat
"This movie is HILARIOUS to watch, which is made funnier by the fact that it’s not a comedy. If you are a fan of the “so bad it’s good” school of films, watch immediately." - Slackjaw Punks
"What it lacks in acting, special effects, originality, and artfulness, 'Turkish Star Wars' makes up for in sheer, jaw-dropping weirdness and audacity." - Popular Mechanics
