Brent Singers will perform Brahms’ own version of the work for chorus with piano duet rather than the original orchestral scoring. Brahms first revealed his piano version in 1866 to his close friend Clara Schumann the famous and acclaimed pianist and composer. The piano arrangement allows a degree of intimacy, precision and contrapuntal clarity that is harder to achieve in the orchestral version. Brent Singers, conducted by Matthew Searles are joined by Catherine Luke (soprano) and Julian Rippon (baritone), alongside pianists Ben Horden and David Davies.
