Award-winning composer-saxophonist, Asha Parkinson is delighted to bring back her criticcaly acclaimed project "KALPADRUMA" to SpiceJazz Soho.

Dynamic and prolific 23-year-old London-based saxophonist, composer and arranger, Asha Parkinson founded the Kalpadruma Collective in 2017 to explore authentic, vital and exciting meeting points between Jazz, Contemporary Classical, Mediterranean, Arab, and Indian music traditions. The powerful, potent do-dectet force of saxophone, flute, bass clarinet, trumpet, string quartet and rhythm section is regularly complimented by appearances from high profile guest artists including oud player, Nikos Ziarkas, singer, Hamsa Mounif and flautist, Gareth Lockrane. After four years of performing at major venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the Union Chapel, and the Jazz Seven Leeds series, the group premiered their debut album Onwards at Spice Jazz, Soho in June 2022.


Asha presents an eclectic programme of original repertoire from the debut album Onwards alongside new material from the group’s upcoming album Possession. The new music explores different states of possession- from hysteria to obsessive love to mystical inspiration. Complimenting this will be some of her arrangements of film composer, Ennio Morricone and Turkish baglama music.
