Based on a true account of a Sussex woman accused and hung for witchcraft in the sixteenth century in a village near Lewes, 1580 now tells the fictional story of her descendants and how events five hundred years earlier have continued to impact the lives of the family.

Former tabloid journalist, Greg Simmons unable to find accommodation in Lewes to undertake research for his second ghost novel a few days before Halloween, arrives in the village at a small bed and breakfast hotel, run by Elizabeth, her younger brother Robert, and his partner Sarah.

After just a few trips back to Lewes to investigate the historical events, executions and alleged paranormal activity in the town, Greg quickly realises that the most interesting and ultimately most shocking story isn’t there at all.

But is it grisly folklore or dark reality?
