Rainfall Records and Clerkenville East-West are thrilled to host an ultra rare European gig by US indie rock legend Barbara Manning. Support for this special afternoon show will be the spellbinding ethereal folk of Sairie.

Barbara Manning first came to prominence as a member of Paisley Underground heroes 28th Day. Following the break up of that band, Barbara embarked on a stellar solo career (as well as band projects with World of Pooh & SF Seals amongst others), producing gems such as “Lately I Keep Scissors” and “1212” on top indie label Matador Records. Her music has taken her all over the USA, to New Zealand and also Europe. However, her appearance at the Betsey Trotwood, accompanied by bassist Buck Campbell, is her first show in the UK for nearly 30 years and is simply unmissable.

Sairie are Emma Morton (vocals, autoharp), Jon Griffin (vocals, guitar) and Andy Thomas (bass). Jon and Emma started playing music together in Brighton folk band Lutine and now bring their shared love of folklore, dark tales, mystery, nature and landscape to life in the music of Sairie.
