After the very first Jazz in the Church concert which was held in 2019 in Alsager I’m incredibly excited to announce JITC shall be coming back to the area in what is a very special venue for me, All Saints Church in Church Lawton. This absolutely beautiful and peaceful small church is where the late great Robert and Pete Cotterill are lying at rest, the two biggest influences in my musical career. It’s with great pleasure that I welcome you to this very intermit and special Jazz in the Church concert. This concert will be featuring a close friend of mine and the always fabulous TJ Johnson.

Always a true ambassador of the soul, TJ sings songs of love lost and gained, of life wholesome and corrupt, songs of hope and despair, songs of the night, all with the true passion and boozy swagger of only a man who has been there and knows. TJ plays an extraordinary blend of music that transcends the boundaries of jazz, blues, soul, country and gospel and is influenced by some of the greats such as Ray Charles, Dr John, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, BB King, Nina Simone, Alberta Hunter, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Witherspoon and many more. His distinctive voice and unique personal stage manner always bring both the band and the audience together to create an intimate yet exciting atmosphere that is rarely equalled.

TJ shall be backed by award winning saxophonist Alex Clarke, someone to look out for in her own right. As a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2020, winner of the Rising Star category in the 2019 British Jazz Awards and nominee in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2021 & 2022, Alex is known to be one of the most in-demand and versatile young saxophonists to have emerged on the British jazz scene.

This is a one off JITC afternoon special and I highly urge you to get your tickets quickly, the capacity of this venue is 120 with all previous JITC being 300+ and sell out shows.
