Workshop description:
Marianne Tuckman is a performance maker fascinated with the combination of voice, movement, and text. Her mission: to make words sweat. Her method: to love through conversation. Join her for a workshop in which she shares elements of the movement/ vocal practice she does to prepare to perform The Dirt, a multi-character solo show. This includes gentle breathing and movement exercises, improvisations, animal movement studies of the different characters, specific movement qualities lead by imagery, vocal warm-ups, and singing. After a break, we will write some collective group associative poems, using these as a starting point in some improvisations that alternate between talking and moving.
Workshop ticket includes free entry to the evening performance of The Dirt. See Marianne Tuckman: The Dirt (upstairs in the Studio).
Marianne is a choreographer, performer, facilitator, and writer based between Berlin and Leeds with an MPhil in creative writing at Swansea University, researching the relationship between text and embodied performance.
Her mission: to make words sweat.
Her method: to love through conversation.
