For the first time at the Calder Vale we are hosting a theatrical production presented by The Red Shed Players from Wakefield.
The production features five short dramatic presentations of resistance against greed and environmental destruction.
The stories:
- Louise Michel and the Paris Commune. Still inspiring the battle for a fairer world.
- The Daintons and Wakefield’s Toxic Tip. Lies, evasions, lifetime injunctions and fighting the Local Authority for twenty five years! Paul and Joyce Dainton will attend the event
- Jayaben Desai and the Grunwick Dispute. An inspirational struggle betrayed, but strong women are unbowed!
- Dave Nixon and Insulate Britain. The planet burns, the police, the courts jail Wakefield lad for explaining why he blocked the roads. Dave will attend the event if he is not in prison.
- Emily Carrigan Rainbow Junktion (Leeds), & Calais. The joy of community action, fulfilment through solidarity.
All proceeds from the ticket sales of this fundraising event will go to the Wakefield Amnesty Group.
