Tom Herbert and Nick Ramm, both familiar faces at The Crypt, have individually graced our stage with some of the most captivating and innovative performances. Tonight, they unite for a special collaboration, marking their debut as a duo at our venue. We eagerly anticipate their performance.

Tom Herbert, renowned as a bass player, has been a part of Mercury Music Prize-nominated bands such as The Invisible and Polar Bear. He's also one-half of the vocal/double bass duo, Moats & Thrones, and was a pivotal founding member of the British jazz-punk sensation, Acoustic Ladyland.

Nick Ramm, based in London, emerged as a prodigious talent from a young age. As a jazz pianist and keyboardist, he has shared the stage with notable artists like Jim Mullen, Tony Kofi, Finn Peters, Dave Okumu, and Oriole, to name a few. Notably, both Herbert and Ramm have previously collaborated in bands like Timeline, Jade Fox, Acoustic Ladyland, and Finn Peters' Quintet. This year, they've been showcasing their synergy as a duo, introducing a refreshing spin to their performances.

Inspired by an interview with Bobby McFerrin, Ramm was deeply moved by McFerrin's journey as a solo artist who improvised and crafted his themes in real-time. Drawing from this inspiration, Ramm and Herbert's recent performances have embraced a spontaneous approach. While much of their music is improvised, audiences might suddenly hear classics like "Wigwise" by Duke Ellington, "Georgy Porgy" by Toto, or even an original piece by Ramm. One thing is certain: both musicians will be deeply attuned to each other, ensuring an immersive experience for their listeners.

Ramm has extensively toured with The Cinematic Orchestra and currently performs alongside Mulatu Astatke and Dave Okumu & the 7 Generations.
