VIDEOGAMES STORIES – WHAT? HOW? AND IS WRITING THEM REALLY A JOB? - How are videogames made? And particularly, how do you create the characters, stories and dialogue that go into them? Come along to explore how videogames are written, and what skills are needed to succeed in this exciting area of the gaming industry. The workshop will uncover some of the secrets of worldbuilding, story structure, dialogue, character creation, narrative design and maybe some other stuff if we still have enough HP.
Andrew Walsh has worked in television, film, theatre, radio, and animation, but spends most of his time wrangling interactive narrative in videogames. His almost 90 game projects include Horizon Forbidden West, Horizon Call of the Mountain, Fable, Watch Dogs: Legion; The Division 2, Fable Legends, Nosgoth, Prince of Persia, Harry Potter, Risen, Shadow of the Beast, Medieval II: Total War, SOCOM, LEGO City: Undercover, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Oh, and he’s co-chair of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain’s videogames committee.
Workshop for ages: 16-25.
Start Time: 11.00am (Exit Time: 1.00pm approx).
Venue: Accidental Theatre.
