Pentangle co-founder Jacqui McShee, accompanied by guitarist, Kevin Dempsey, will be appearing at Croydon Folk Club on Monday 29th January.
In 2020 they released From There to Here, a recording of self-composed songs and traditional tunes.
Jacqui McShee was born in Catford, South London.
She started her career in Sutton at the Red Lion pub where she sang as a resident singer most Sundays during 1964/65 with her dear late friend Chris Aycliffe. It was through Chris that she met and became friends with John Renbourn and Bert Jansch. This led to the birth of Pentangle, a jazz-influenced folk rock band, towards the end of 1966.
Pentangle’s first major concert saw them play to a sold out audience at the Royal Festival Hall, on 27th May 1967.

Pentangle rapidly established itself as one of the earliest exponents of the British folk rock movement. The Band also drew audiences from the rock, pop and psychedelic folk worlds.
The original band played a mixture of ballads, blues, and jazz, often blending these genres in the same piece.

The Band released several successful albums since then, having had several changes of personnel over the years.

Kevin Dempsey is a very talented guitarist, singer, songwriter and record producer. He has worked with famous musicians, such as Percy Sledge, Mary Black and Alice Coltrane. He is currently working with folk groups Swarb's Lazarus and Uiscedwr, and fiddlist Joe Broughton.
