Event information

The Missed Trees are an alt-folk duo from Birmingham consisting of singer-songwriter/guitarist Joe Peacock and singer/fiddle player Louisa Davies-Foley.

This is a special gig to celebrate the release of their second EP, Resist. The follow up to their acclaimed first EP, Animals, is a more political collection of songs. It deals with themes of scapegoating refugees, racism and dictatorships, but all done with a great sense of melody and songwriting craft.

Joe Peacock has become known as a genre-hopping storyteller in his career as a solo artist, but working with Louisa Davies-Foley he has focused on playing acoustically and taken his songs to another level. Together their voices blend superbly and Louisa’s background in traditional music works perfectly with Joe’s more alternative roots.

Louisa has played in a number of West Midlands based folk bands including Elfynn, The Dirty Old Folkers and Amaranth. They use carefully crafted harmonies and fiddle parts to augment and add new possibilities to Joe’s creations.

Quotes about their first EP:

“One of the best EPs I’ve heard in a long long time.”
“Gorgeous harmonies, stunning lyrics, lush violin - sublime songwriting all round!”

Playing with them is The Lost Notes (Trio) fresh from a superbly received set on the Janice Long stage at Moseley Folk Festival. Ben, Oli and Lucy will be playing an acoustic set. Their music has been described as: “a quintessentially English take on country folk, sharing the melodic and commercial sensibilities of Hank Williams with the quirky Brit-pop of the Kinks”.

Their second album Lowlifes and High Times was released to great acclaim. The songs on it celebrate the ups and downs of journeymen, despots, sleazeballs, fools, the planet and the consciously idle.

With their glorious three part harmonies and fearlessly entertaining performances they are a band not to be missed.
