I Maestri present
Heroic hearts
Beethoven Egmont overture op. 84
Prokofiev Violin Concerto no. 2, op. 63
Beethoven Romance No. 1 in G major, op. 40
Beethoven Symphony no. 1, op 21
George Hlawiczka, Malcolm Allison, violins
Apollo Premadasa, George Hlawiczka, conductors
Join us in this evocative programme.
Beethoven was a revolutionary composer and that he should write music and an overture to the story or the heroic Egmont who died for the independence of the Netherlands is most appropriate.
Prokofiev's 2nd violin concert is based on the ballet Romeo and Juliet the story of which shows equally much heroism of their sacrifice because of their love which their families dont approve of..
Beethoven's 1st symphony is full or wit a provocativeness.
Malcolm Allison, a special violinist with a deep expressiveness joins us on Beethoven's Romance.
We also are excited to give 9 year old Apollo Premadasa the opportunity to conduct Beethoven's Egmont overture. Apollo is a young composer, cellist, trombonist and percussionist who will be making his conducting debut.
I Maestri provide exactly this kind of opportunity for young musicians to have platform and I hope you will come to support us!
