Choral delights conducted by Darius Battiwalla
Presented by: Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus0 | SHEFFIELD: Victoria Hall |

P | Saturday 16th March, 2024 |
N | 7:00pm |
The Chorus is pleased to present a programme of contrasting works by male and female composers in the newly-refurbished Victoria Hall. First, Gustav Holst’s Two Psalms, written in 1912, alongside his daughter Imogen Holst’s Three Psalms, written 21 years later. Both works are for chorus, organ and strings.
Also on the programme are Benjamin Britten’s highly acclaimed and unique cantata Rejoice in the Lamb, composed in 1943 to text taken from Christopher Smart’s poem Jubilate Agno, and Ave Maris Stella, a wonderful piece by Welsh composer Grace Williams, a contemporary of both Britten and Imogen Holst.
Access to the hall is via a short 3-step ramp, with stairs up to the balcony. Members of the choir will give out programmes and help you find a seat. There are toilets on the ground floor and on the balcony; these are limited so there are likely to be queues. Refreshments will be available during the 30 minute interval, donations welcome.
Tickets £18 online (small booking fee) and on the door by cash or card, £5 for students on the door, under 18s and carers free on the door. Tickets for those in wheelchairs and with limited mobility are available , please email administrator@sheffieldphil.org.
