Andy Skellam is a Bristol based, alt-folk musician with over twenty years of experience writing and performing in the UK and beyond. His main instruments are guitar and vocals with influences from 60's finger-style folk musicians such as Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen & Joni Mitchell to English Psychedelia such as Kevin Ayres and Syd Barrett. He will be touring his new album 'Brighten Up The Place'.
“Andy creates intimate worlds, inviting the listener in with the warmth of his baritone voice” (Folk Radio UK).
"Andy Skellam's Brighten Up the Place (Pear O’Legs) is a lovely, somnambulist set of songs about wayward hearts, bluebirds and bloodhounds, made intimate in every soft squeak of its chord changes, the whispery husk of Skellam’s voice, and the drawing bows of a cello." (Guardian).
"This album is a marvellous balm" (Kate Stables - This Is The Kit).
"Something new and rather good" (Gideon Coe, Radio 6).
Beth Porter has been been likened to Cat Power, The Beatles, REM, This Is The Kit, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Radiohead, Sandy Denny, The Incredible String Band and The Kinks. With a classical background, a venture into folk music, and a love of simple pop songs, there’s nothing quite like Beth’s songwriting. It is quintessentially English yet understated and original.
Fritillaries (formerly known as Rainy Day Woman) is the original project of folk/Americana songwriter Hannah Pawson. Using banjo, guitar and harmonium, her recent songs have their hands in the soil and take a compassionate look at the shadowy parts of ourselves. Fritillaries have been played on BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 2, featured extensively in Folk Radio UK, reviewed by RNR magazine and Americana UK.
