Event information
Bruce Molsky is a self-described street kid from the Bronx who opted out of college and big city life in the 70s to live in a cabin in Virginia and learn authentic Appalachian mountain music at the feet of its legendary pioneers.
Today Bruce is one of the most revered ambassadors for America’s old-time mountain music. For decades he’s been a globetrotting performer, ethnomusicologist and educator, a recording artist with an expansive discography including seven solo albums, well over a dozen collaborations and two Grammy-nominations. He’s also received high praise from diverse fans and collaborators such as Linda Ronstadt, Mark Knopfler and many more.
On stage Bruce transports his audience to another time and place, with his authentic feel for, and unearthing of, almost-forgotten rarities from the Southern Appalachian songbook. Seducing audiences with a combination of rhythmic and melodic virtuosity and relaxed conversational wit, he is renowned for making the largest venue feel like an intimate living room session.
